How This All Came About

In 2019 I was handed documents from a couple of cousins. The first was The Elie & Lillian Anderson Family Reunion, printed and prepared by Bonitta J. Saulsberry. The other was a document given to me by Chester Anderson. This document provided information on the above mentioned Elie Anderson Sr.'s siblings including Chester's grandfather Adolphus Anderson Sr. and their parents John H. and Easter Anderson.

I volunteered to centralize and digitize this information.  I scanned these files and merged them into a single document with John H. Anderson and Easter Anderson at the top of the family tree.

I also discovered that a standardized data format (GEDCOM) had been created for storing family tree information. Saving our family information in that format would make it easier for other family members to easily import the data into one of the programs on the market designed to work with family trees.  I sent this information back and put the family tree out of my mind.

Over Christmas 2023, my cousins noted that they had not received a copy of the files I had created. I was simply going to email them a copy. I did a quick Google search to double check the spelling of someone's name. I tripe and fell down a family history research rabbit hole.

I created an account with Ancestry.com and, eventually, Newspapers.com. I was able to find copies of death certificates, military id, obituaries.... well you know.  While gathering all of this information and trying to share it with family I realized I needed to try and find a way to make it easier browse and make it easily available to more of my family.

That's how I got into creating this website. I wasn't satisfied with the way the some of the reports the database program I purchased were designed, so I wrote a program to parse the GEDCOM file and created my own reports.  Did I mention I'm a software engineer with obsessive tendencies? ðŸ˜ƒ

What you'll find here are four types of reports. A list of the family by generation, a top/down tree, a tree that flows left to right and an alphabetically arranged list that provides information per person in the family.
